Facilities

The Utah Olympic Oval facility consists of five acres under a clear span suspension roof. The facility houses a 400-meter speed skating oval, two international size ice sheets, indoor soccer field, a four-lane 442-meter state of the art running track, eight 110-meter sprint lanes, high performance weight room, spacious locker facilities and team rooms, World Record Lounge and meeting rooms, concession stands, Oval Gifts and Gear Pro Shop, skate rental and skate sharpening services.

Ice
The Utah Olympic Oval is comprised of two international size hockey rinks (30 x 60m) surrounded by a 12m x 400m Olympic oval. All told the Oval houses 90,000 square feet of ice. Each ice sheet is a separate monolithic (no joints) concrete pad. All three are individually controlled to provide optimum ice conditions based on use. The arena space is controlled by a network of 16 sensors constantly measuring air temperature, humidity, carbon monoxide and more all to maintain "The Fastest Ice on Earth". The arena is a comfortable 63 - 65 degrees again providing the ultimate training environment for our high performance athletes and recreational athletes alike.

Running Track
Just outside the "The Fastest Ice on Earth" sits what we hope will become "The Fastest Indoor Track on Earth."

This beautiful 442-meter Mondo Super X track circles the oval with four lanes of the best running surface under your feet possible. The front straightaway features an eight-lane, 110-meter sprint zone. Regardless of the season, runners train in a climate-controlled environment, averaging 63-65 degrees year-round.

High Performance Weight Room
The Utah Olympic Oval houses a weight room (closed to the public) that is open to all high performance athletes using the oval from speed skaters to figure skaters. It is a fully outfitted weight room aimed at increasing strength in athletes. With an extensive selection of free weights, plyometric boxes, turn cables, and balance aids, it is sure to meet the needs of all high performance athletes.

Indoor Sports Turf
The Utah Olympic Oval features the largest indoor soccer field in the state, located within one of the two international-sized hockey rinks at the facility. The indoor field sports turf, which was made by SRI Sports, was installed in July 2003 with adult and youth leagues beginning play in September 2003.

The specifically-designed indoor soccer field is a nylon monofilament with a five-millimeter foam backing. The turf has painted lines for indoor soccer and lacrosse. The pile height is 7/16-inch thick and the total system measures 3/4-inch thick, guaranteeing rocket fast ball play. The rolls are 12 feet wide and are sandwiched between the dashers while Velcro maintains the joint underneath.

The field is located on the northernmost 100-feet by 200-feet hockey rinks inside the Utah Olympic Oval. The rink has regulation pro grade dasher boards with tempered glass. The soccer goals are all aluminum and measure 8 feet tall by 12 feet wide. The rink also has an L.E.D. scoreboard with time, penalties and score. There is bleacher seating for up to 600 people.
